The Barony of Calafia’s Arts and Sciences Point will be at Calafia Anniversary! We are inviting the Populace to come join us under the shade, as Lady Grainne and I are hosting a String Solar during the event! Bring your weaving, your embroidery, your Kumihimo, and all other sundry string-based crafts and join us. We will be there all day! It isn’t necessary to have a project to join us, but if you would like to participate, and do not have a project, never fear! We will have some muslin, pre-printed embroidery pieces, cross-stitch patterns, needle, and thread for anyone interested.
For those who were unable to make it to Leif Erickson, but would still like to participate in very last installment for the Scrapbook Quilt competition, we have the design available for pick up. The Leif Erickson piece will be due at Winter Arts and we will vote on the last finished designs to go into the Scrapbook Quilt. After that, all of the winning quilt pieces will be put together to be raffled off at Potrero War 2016.
Looking forward to the lovely day tomorrow!

Don’t forget! This Sunday, April 12th at 2pm is Calafia’s second Largesse Project Day! We will be presenting Largesse to Their Excellencies at closing court at Summergate Anniversary, so this is the perfect time to make something.
If you have largesse you would like to work on, you are welcome to bring your materials and join us. No ideas of what to make, but you would like to help out? There will be muslin, needle and thread for making bags. Have a project you need to work on and you want company while you do it? Come join us! We also have lists of ideas for largesse that were compiled with the help of Baron Guy Rand and Baroness Murrien.
Feel free to bring snacks and drinks and let’s craft!
We will meet at 2488 Historic Decatur Rd., Suite 160, SD, CA, 92106 at 2 pm.
We hope to see you there!
Greetings, gentles all!
The A&S open house for Tanwayour will be held this coming Tuesday, Dec 16th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Rancho San Diego Library, 11555 Via Rancho San Diego, El Cajon, CA 92019. Please come and enjoy a wonderful time to enjoy, work on, and share your period arts!
Lady Jana Aoibeall will be available to teach one-on-one how to do period shading techniques to any who wish to learn how to make your illuminating (the painting used to illustrate awards scrolls in our society and very expensive books in period) even more spectacular. She can also demonstrate gilding techniques (how thin sheets of gold were applied to the illuminations). Card stock will be available for those who wish to practice by making gift cards/tags.
Also, Lady Agnes Wurtmann will be demonstrating how to make Sima, a Finnish mead that can ferment in as little as 8 days. If you wish to try your hand at making your own, please bring 2 lbs of honey and a clean 1 gallon jug.
Other gentles have come and worked on cordmaking, and cutting out sewing projects. We have a beautiful large, well lighted room where you can put two banquet-size tables together for your project, if you need the room, or you can work out of your lap. As long as it’s period and you can do it on/over a carpeted floor without risking stains, you are very welcome indeed!
Hope that we’ll see you there!
Robyn, Tanwayour A&S
