Arts in the Park is coming!! Reserve your space now!

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Arts in the Park event, held Sunday, August 2, 2014 at Allied Gardens Recreation Center (5155 Greenbrier Ave, SD, CA, 92120). The demo will be open to the public from 1:00-4:00 pm.

In an effort to intrigue the public, enrich our numbers, and show off our general awesomeness, Arts in the Park will also be held in conjunction with Iron Brigade practice. This date is the first Iron Brigade practice after Comic Con, and we expect a large turnout from those that want to see what the Society for Creative Anachronism is all about.

The Barony of Calafia is extending the invitation to all that would love to come, spend the afternoon, and show the public why Calafia and the SCA is such a wonderful place to make friends, learn, and create.  Artisans and creative Gentles in Calafia are invited to bring items to display. If anyone has something to bring, we will have tables, space, and shade for showing it off. Anyone is welcome to bring their own shade structure, especially those that look period.  It would be lovely to have some classes and demos available as well, so if anyone would like to teach (even a short class) or demonstrate a craft, it would be most welcome.

This year we are planning to hold a performance and demo staging area, so if any Guild has a interest in reserving a space on the “stage”, do so soon! We would like to have a schedule of performances and demos to intrigue the newcomers.

This a garbed event. Lords and Ladies of any age are invited to don their best garb and help show off the full spectrum of what we are all about to the general public.

Please email to reserve a space or to schedule a class time. If you need to reserve a space, and are bringing a shade structure, please include the dimensions and your top two location preferences for set up.

Site is open for set up at 11:oo am and closes at 5:00 pm (must be off-site by 5:00 pm). Please be advised that parking is very limited until 12pm.) Demo will be open from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

15 days to send in your class proposal for Potrero War!

There are 15 days left (April 20th) until the deadline to get your class or arts activities into the Gate Book for Potrero War 2015! Please don’t hesitate to get your proposal in! (Any classes submitted between April 21st and May 11 will have the class information at Arts and Sciences Point only.)

If you are planning on teaching at Collegium, I would be delighted to hold your class again at Potrero War. (Hey you will already be prepared!) Wishing you were able to do a “Part 2” for your Collegium class? I am happy to schedule it for Potrero War. Contact for any questions.

Wishing you could meet other people doing the same craft you are? Looking to exchange ideas about your craft, or just have someone to geek out about it with you? Host a craft/skill circle! You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t need to be able to teach; it is just a fun get-together with like-minded artisans. Arts and Sciences Point is looking to schedule some craft circles. You can schedule it at the Stone Tables or at a location of your choosing.

If you are interested in teaching a class or hosting a crafting get-together, you can fill out the form found at If you are teaching a “Part 2” class or hosting a craft circle, just add this information to your description. You will be notified as soon as your proposal has been received.

Thank you and I am looking forward to a great War!
