We are having a friendly little competition to see if the Cat People or Dog People are more generous! The most donations for Cats or Dogs, will have an extra bag of food donated to their respective species!

**It’s time to turn in the very last design for the Calafia Scrapbook Quilt Competition! There will be a display of all of the past winners and the populace will be able to vote on the last piece, picked up at Leif Erickson, before they are all whisked away to become a beautiful quilt.

**The Provisioner’s Guild is hosting a Sausage Competition!

The details are as follows:

There will be a sausage competition at Winter Arts on Dec. 5th, hosted by the Provisioners guild. If you are interested in competing, please bring 3 to 4 links or patties along with your recipe to the event and sign up with Christoffer Decshel (I’ll mostly be in or near the kitchen). The “lysts” will close 15 minutes after the opening announcements. When you sign up, you will be told when you will be alloted space to prepare your entry. There is only one entry allowed per person. There are no requirements as far as size, casing, or variety. Your goal is simply to put your best sausage forward.

Your judges are Baron Guy (Michael Bilderback) , Parlane of Glenord (Maxwell Adam Diamond), and a mystery judge recruited by the Baron (honestly, I just forgot who it was).

Classes will be held at Winter Arts!

After that, all of the winning quilt pieces will be put together to be raffled off at Potrero War 2016.

The guilds of Calafia will also be setting up displays.

Interested in competing for the Arts Champion or Children’s Arts Champion of Calafia? The Calafia Arts Champion is a compilation of all period appropriate works completed in 2015 by one individual. We are pleased to announce the upcoming Arts in the Park event, held Sunday, August 2, 2014 at Allied Gardens Recreation Center (5155 Greenbrier Ave, SD, CA, 92120). The demo will be open to the public from 1:00-4:00 pm.

In an effort to intrigue the public, enrich our numbers, and show off our general awesomeness, Arts in the Park will also be held in conjunction with Iron Brigade practice. The Barony of Calafia is extending the invitation to all that would love to come, spend the afternoon, and show the public why Calafia and the SCA is such a wonderful place to make friends, learn, and create.  Artisans and creative Gentles in Calafia are invited to bring items to display. If anyone has something to bring, we will have tables, space, and shade for showing it off. Anyone is welcome to bring their own shade structure, especially those that look period.  It would be lovely to have some classes and demos available as well, so if anyone would like to teach (even a short class) or demonstrate a craft, it would be most welcome.

20140803_14062120140803_140814

This year we are planning to hold a performance and demo staging area, so if any Guild has a interest in reserving a space on the “stage”, do so soon! We would like to have a schedule of performances and demos to intrigue the newcomers.
